Design Examples

A selection of completed gardens and designs demonstrate a wide range of ideas and styles. The importance of good design is clear in creating instant and long lasting impact.  These gardens will mature over time, softening and improving year on year.

track.JPG (91997 bytes)

A circular design of inter-linked lawns and paving.  This design was inspired by  two little girls who wanted a cycle track.  Mum has a corner hideaway surrounded by the plants she loves, and a larger patio near to the house provides ample space for entertaining.

A custom made steel rill sits snugly within a circle of turf.  Water circulates from a hidden integrated reservoir.

The rill is a strong feature all year round, and the gushing water adds an extra dimension in hot weather.

This transformation was achieved simply by reshaping and widening the central steps linking the two levels of the original courtyard. New sandstone has been laid on an angle for paving and steps, and also used to cap the old millstone grit walls unifying old and new.  Working with the existing walls saved money and disruption.

A well proportioned lawn of inter-locking circles defined by tegular setts.  A mix of old and new planting flows around the curves of the lawn and paving and a simple structure of timber and willow wraps around the circular seating area providing a cosy enclosure.

Decking Platform incorporating Water Rill and Pond

The design ideas applied to this garden have created a truly stunning feature and have significantly increased the useable garden space.

The new deck platform integrates beautifully with the traditional stone house and with the magnificent panoramic views of the moorland beyond.

Chevron balustrading has been used to guard the edge of the platform, and the deck incorporates a linked pond and water rill.
